A small minor newscast change… #72

WUSA 9 / Washington, D.C. (“W*USA 9”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small minor change from the D.C. area on Sunday mornings…

WUSA 9 has recently expanded its Sunday morning newscast by an extra half-hour. The Sunday morning edition of WUSA 9 News – Wake Up Washington is now aired from 7:00-9:00am, extended to the 8:30am half-hour that was previously aired by Capital Download, which has since been canceled.

In terms of competition, it now competes fully against WTTG 5 (FOX)’s Sunday morning newscast while it also competes against the 7:00am hour of WRC 4 (NBC)’s Sunday morning newscast. WJLA 7 (ABC) doesn’t do a weekend morning newscast at all.

Other than that, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.

  1. Technically WJLA produces weekend morning news for NC8 (News Channel 8) its sister station but they haven’t had weekend morning news themselves since around 2010.
