KTNV is about to finally go to 5:00 p.m. on Saturdays.

KTNV-TV 13 / Las Vegas (“Channel 13”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: For what seems like the longest of time, KTNV has always had a 5:00pm half-hour newscast on weeknights and on Sundays, but not on Saturdays where their ONLY early-evening newscast was at 6:00pm. That’s about to change for Saturdays on KTNV.

Starting Saturday April 30th, KTNV 13 is adding a half-hour 5:00pm newscast for Saturdays. Channel 13 Action News at 5:00 will become one of two early-evening newscasts for KTNV 13 on Saturdays, alongside their current 6:00pm newscast as well. The only one that they won’t do after this expansion is the 6:30pm newscast as that timeslot is still home to the Saturday edition of ABC World News TONIGHT since Judge Judy is aired at 5:30pm instead.

Funny how I mentioned that because ABC World News TONIGHT is aired at 5:30pm from Sundays-Fridays but is then aired at 6:30pm on Saturdays. Anyways, once this new newscast goes to the airwaves, it will replace Paid Programming in that timeslot and it will allow the station to compete against already-established KSNV 3 (NBC) and KLAS 8 (CBS)’s 5:00pm weekend newscasts for local news in that timeslot in the market.

I say its about time, considering a look to their current weekend schedule. But this does mean more local news for Las Vegas… again.
