WRDE is now on at 5:00 p.m., the first addition since starting its local news operation in 2014.

WRDE-LD 31 / Rehoboth Beach, DE – Sailsbury, MD (“WRDE Coast TV”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Two years ago, WRDE launched its local news operation after receiving the NBC affiliation. Now, its adding its first newscast since launching that operation.

Since Monday May 23rd, WRDE 31 has launched a half-hour weeknight 5:00pm newscast called WRDE Coast TV News – LIVE at 5:00. The new program competes against the half-hour weeknight newscast that WBOC 16 (CBS) produces for its third digital subchannel, FOX 21 Delmarva under WBOC News – First at 5:00 on FOX 21 Delmarva. This new newscast is a traditional newscast so it does compliment WRDE 31’s other nightly newscasts at 6:00 and 11:00pm.

As I’ve mentioned, this is the station’s first NEW newscast since launching its local news operation after it received its NBC affiliation in 2014 and was launched with just nightly half-hour newscasts at 6:00 and 11:00pm. The program is a half-hour ONLY as the station elects to air Extra at 5:30pm instead.

But give WRDE 31 credit. At least their news operation is starting to grow now.

  1. You forgot to mention their news operation originates from Little Rock, Arkansas and is completely disconnected from the actual community.

  2. I wonder what station in Little Rock produces WRDE newscasts? If it is KARK-TV, KATV, or KHTV that produces the newscasts for WRDE?
