FIRST ON THE BLOG: KVRR is about to do something that nobody else in the Fargo – Grand Forks market (a.k.a. The Red River Valley) currently does right now… local morning news from 7:00-9:00am.
Starting Monday June 13th, KVRR 15 will be airing a LIVE two-hour weekday morning newscast for the first time in its history with a still working title in progress with TV listings calling it as KVRR Local News at 7:00am/8:00am but I think it will be called the KVRR Morning News. This will be the area’s first-ever LIVE and local morning news broadcast from 7:00-9:00am as KVLY 11 (NBC)/KVLY 11.2 (CBS) and WDAY 6/WDAZ 8 (ABC) end their morning newscasts at 7:00am to air national network morning shows.
And did I mention it will air LIVE? That means no more watching a rebroadcast of The Valley Today from 7:00-9:00am on KVLY 11’s Me-TV North Dakota on KVLY 11.3 which rebroadcasts the 5:00-7:00am portion of their morning newscast which begins at 4:30am. The new morning newscast will replace Paid Programming at 7:00 and 8:00am and two episodes of Right This Minute at 7:30 and 8:30am.
No word currently as to who will anchor the news or deliver the weather on the two-hour long morning broadcast as Job Listings for KVRR 15 (as of Saturday June 4th, 2016) currently still post listings for morning anchors/producers and a CG operator for the LIVE morning broadcast.
Yes, a new batch of local morning news is coming to the Red River Valley and in this instance, the ONLY LIVE and local morning newscast from 7:00-9:00am. Very good on KVRR 15’s end for doing so. This will go down in Red River Valley TV history.
