FIRST ON THE BLOG: If you’re looking for a fresh, alternative weekend morning newscast in Southern Colorado, then look no further than KXRM. They got one now.
Since yesterday, Saturday July 9th, KXRM 21 has added and now airs a weekend morning newscast. The newscast airs from 6:00-7:00am and is branded as the FOX 21 Morning News at 6:00 a.m., same as the weekday counterparts.
This newscast competes against KRDO 13 (ABC)’s already-established weekend morning newscast at 6:00am with NewsChannel 13’s Good Morning Colorado at 6:00 a.m. This is the first time since the news operation launched in 2006 that KXRM 21 has ventured into a new area for newscasts… weekend mornings. The only other weekend newscast they got now is their half-hour weekend newscast at 9:00pm.
I don’t know as to who anchors the news or delivers the weather on the new broadcast.
But good for KXRM 21 as they try out something new in a new time area for a young news department (10 years compared to decades in other stations). I’d say good luck to them on this.
An hour is good for southern Colorado Market on weekend mornings, that also leaves KKTV without local news on weekend mornings.

Yep! KOAA 5 also offers an hour while KRDO 13 offers two one-hour editions.
