A small minor newscast change… #86

KGUN-TV 9 / Tucson (“KGUN 9”)
KWBA-TV 58 / Sierra Vista – Tucson (“The CW Tucson”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Some few changes involving one more newscast in two stations in Southern Arizona (Tucson).

Since yesterday, Monday August 1st, KGUN 9 has expanded its weekday morning newscast, KGUN 9 News – Good Morning Tucson to 4:30am. It becomes the second station in the market to expand to 4:30am after KOLD 13 (CBS) has done so for quite some time now, a few years actually. This means that the program is now on from 4:30-7:00am.

However, the program remains as 4:30-7:00am because just recently, KGUN 9 has taken down the 7:00am hour that it aired for its sister station KWBA 58. It was known as KGUN 9 News – Good Morning Tucson Extra and it did compete against the first hour of KMSB 11 (FOX)’s 2-hour morning newscast, FOX 11 News Daybreak at 7:00am but now KMSB 11 holds reigns to having the ONLY 7:00-9:00am morning newscast in the area. That newscast is produced by their sister station KOLD 13 under a SSA.

Other than that, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.

  1. I wonder if any of the TV stations in the Tucson Market will ever get Saturday and Sunday Morning newscasts? The Tucson TV market really needs to get weekend morning news.

  2. Looks like all of the scripps stations besides WTVF will eventually expand all of their morning newscasts to 4:30am and possibly adding the now newscast!
