Spokane’s “Good Day” on KAYU is expanding to its sister stations in Yakima (KCYU-LD) and the Tri-Cities (KFFX).

KCYU-LD 41 / Yakima, WA (“FOX 41”)
KFFX-TV 11 / Pendleton, OR – Tri-Cities, WA (“FOX 11”)
KAYU-TV 28 / Spokane, WA – Coeur d’Alene, ID (“FOX 28”)
KHQ-TV 6 / Spokane, WA – Coeur d’Alene, ID (“KHQ” / “Q6”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: “Good Day Spokane” is a local morning newscast produced by KHQ for KAYU in Spokane for Eastern Washington. Apparently, it’s doing well enough that the show’s expanding to Central Washington.

Starting Monday August 29th, KAYU 28’s sister stations in Yakima, KCYU-LD 41 and Tri-Cities, KFFX 11, will start carrying KAYU 28’s weekday morning newscast, FOX 28 News – Good Day Spokane, from 7:00-9:00am. It will be a straight direct simulcast from KAYU 28 and the newscast is produced by KHQ 6 in Spokane through an agreement. That agreement now extended to this simulcast for Central Washington.

However, this is a KHQ 6-production and it will NOT be a KNDO 23 / KNDU 25 production. KNDO 23 / KNDU 25, KCYU-LD 41 and KFFX 11’s sister stations through an agreement, are the actual ones that produce the nightly 10:00pm newscast for those stations but will NOT be involved in production of the morning newscasts, except for any local news and weather briefs that they may insert during the broadcast.

But this also brings good news… it gives the Yakima / Tri-Cities market, its ONLY local morning newscast from 7:00-9:00am and no other local morning newscast does that yet or will do that at all.

So yes, even more local morning news is coming to Yakima / Tri-Cities, even though it will be a straight up simulcast from a station East of the area.
