A small minor newscast change… #93

WMC-TV 5 / Memphis (“WMC-TV Channel 5”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small change that’ll be upcoming from Memphis and Western Tennessee and its a shortening.

Starting Monday September 12th, WMC 5 will once again shorten its 12:00 Noon midday newscast. It will become a half-hour newscast once again from 12:00-12:30pm and this will be exact with ‘rival’ WREG 3 (CBS)’s half-hour noon newscast for local news in that timeslot in the market.

In terms of what WMC 5 will show at 12:30pm, it would be Right This Minute and my belief is that WMC 5 will be showing something new like a new syndicated show or something else at 3:00pm as, according to TV listings, Ellen is moved to 2:00pm, leaving the 3:00pm hour free. EDITCrime Watch Daily is expected to take over the 3:00pm timeslot which would then lead into the station’s hour-long 4:00pm newscast.

That’s all the minor changes for now as we do have a major expansion report to tell you about a very recent new duopoly in Knoxville that’s coming in the new year. Stay tuned to the blog later today for the story.

  1. Hey, can you add updates on these articles? Because, according to WMC’s Zap2it page, the 3pm slot is going to Crime Watch Daily.
