Newscasts debuting this week… Edition #58.

The week of Labor Day and brings up some newscasts debuting this week, even though you gotta stay tuned to next week because they’ll be plenty. Again, done by day, time order and market size.

Monday September 5th, 2016

  • 5:00-5:30 AM: NewsChannel 10 – The Early Show at 5:00 a.m.

KFDA in Amarillo. The station expands to 5:00am, joining KVII 7 (ABC) for local news at that time in the market. It’s the only newscast, or a sort of extension, to debut on Labor Day.

Tuesday September 6th, 2016

  • 7:00-7:30 AM: 40/29 News Sunrise at 7:00 a.m. on Arkansas CW

KHBS 40.2 in Ft. Smith and KHOG 29.2 in Fayetteville. An extra half-hour of weekday morning news is coming to their second digital subchannel. This will compete against the first half-hour of KFTA 24 (FOX)’s 7:00am morning newscast, produced by KNWA 51 (NBC).

  • 4:00-5:00 PM: WMTW News 8 at 4:00

WMTW in Portland, ME. The station will make history with the station and Maine’s first-ever 4:00pm newscast. It will also create the first two-and-a-half-hour continuous news block in the market and in the state.

  • 4:00-4:30 PM: WALB News 10 – First at 4:00

WALB in Albany, GA. This will be the market’s first-ever and the ONLY 4:00pm newscast. It will be a regular newscast in which Inside Edition is to follow at 4:30pm.

  • 7:00-7:30 PM: FOX Wilmington News at 7:00

WSFX in Wilmington. 7:00pm local news returns to the market on Tuesday for the first time in 7 years. This new half-hour newscast will be the ONLY ones on in the market.

Wednesday September 7th, 2016

  • 4:00-4:30 PM: KSLA News 12 at 4:00

KSLA in Shreveport. I don’t understand as to why this newscast will debut on Wednesday, but nonetheless, the newscast will compete against KTBS 3 (ABC)’s hour-long 4:00pm newscast for its sister station KPXJ 21 (CW), which debuted two weeks ago.

That’s it for this upcoming week. Tomorrow is a legal holiday with Labor Day. Enjoy it if you have the day off or not enjoy it if you have to work tomorrow. Whatever the case may be, have a great week!
