WRCB finally fills the void of midday and adds an hour-long noon newscast.

FIRST ON THE BLOG: WRCB, for the longest of time, has not aired a midday newscast, giving its competitors an advantage. But its 2016 and WRCB finally realizes that. Therefore, they’re now on with local news at midday.

Since yesterday, Monday September 5th, WRCB 3 has added and now airs an hour-long midday newscast at 12:00 Noon with apparently the title of their weekday morning newscast, Channel 3 Eyewitness News Today at Noon. It competes against WTVC 9 (ABC/FOX) and WDEF 12 (CBS) for local news at the 12:00 Noon timeslot in the market. However, it will be all alone at 12:30pm making it the ONLY local news at that time by then.

By the way, for the record, the station airs a lifestyle-produced show that precedes the newscast and is called 3 Plus You. Its an hour-long program that airs at 11:00am and is NOT a newscast in any way since it contains plenty of lifestyle and cooking features. All the latest local news and weather are instead seen on the new hour-long 12:00 Noon newscast.

So is this something that the Chattanooga market needed? Nope, but its a much welcome addition. Its nice to see WRCB 3 finally have noon news for a change. Good for them.

  1. I thought WTVC-TV 9 was the top rated news station in Chattanooga. If WRCB is number one for news they must have recently topped WTVC. If WRCB is number one for news in Chattanooga is probably why they may be noon adding news to compete with WTVC and WDEF noon news shows.
