Newscasts debuting this week… Edition #60.

The 60th edition of the latest Newscasts debuting this week. It doesn’t get old and it always serves as a reminder as to what newscasts will be debuting this week, as the title implies. So here is this week’s edition as Fall comes to us on Thursday.

Monday September 19th, 2016

  • 4:30-5:00 AM: KRCG 13 – LIVE at Sunrise at 4:30 a.m.

KRCG 13 in Columbia – Jefferson City. The station finally adds a newscast somewhere and it does so on its morning newscast. It beings tomorrow and competes against KOMU 8 (NBC/CW) for local morning news in that timeslot in the market.

  • 12:00-1:00 PM: The 12:00 O’Clock News on FOX 12 Oregon

KPTV in Portland, OR. The station adds its first-ever midday newscast and it would be an hour-long newscast at 12:00 Noon, basically being by themselves at 12:30pm after competing with KOIN 6 (CBS) and KGW 8 (NBC) in the first half-hour. KATU 2 (ABC) will be the only ones without midday news after this.

  • 4:00-5:00 PM: KWCH 12 Eyewitness News at 4:00 on KSCW

KSCW in Wichita. This is not a newscast but is considered an expansion as the program becomes an hour-long newscast and will compete against KAKE 10 (ABC) in the first half-hour but will be all alone by themselves in the market at 4:30pm.

  • 5:30-6:00 PM: FOX 21 Local News at 5:30

KQDS in Duluth. Though not new, it moves its 6:00pm half-hour newscast over to 5:30pm due to KBJR 6.2, formerly KDLH 3, discontinuing 5:30pm news in favor of local news at 6:00pm. This gives KQDS 21 as the home to the ONLY local newscast on at 5:30pm in the market.

  • 11:00-11:30 PM: FOX 5 News at 11:00

KSWB in San Diego. The station will try to compete against the others in the market (except XETV 6 – The CW) in delivering local news at 11:00pm and it will be the station’s first-ever attempt in doing so. It’s a weeknight-ONLY newscast so it won’t be on the air on weekends.

Tuesday September 20th, 2016

  • 7:00-7:30 PM: 24-Hour News 8 at 7:00

WOOD in Grand Rapids. Though an odd day to debut such a newscast, it will do so just in time for ArtPrize which is a yearly international art competition held in Grand Rapids with this year being from September 21st-October 9th. This will be the ONLY local newscast on at 7:00pm in the market. It will debut at their ArtPrize studios before transitioning to their WOOD 8 studios after just three weeks.

That’s it for this week. If any more updates come in, you’ll hear it on our social media channels. Have a great week and enjoy the first day of Fall starting Thursday.
