A small minor newscast change… #99.

WFXT 25 / Boston (
WFXT 25 / Boston (“FOX 25”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A minor expansion has just taken place in Boston.

WFXT 25 has added an extra half-hour weeknight-ONLY newscast at 11:30pm. FOX 25 News at 11:30 is home to the area’s ONLY local newscast on at that time since the other stations (WBZ 4 – CBS, WCVB 5 – ABC and WHDH 7 – NBC) are going into late night programming. The newscast is anchored by Mark Ockerbloom and Vanessa Welch with FOX 25 StormTracker Weather from Chief Meteorologist Kevin Lemanowicz.

The newscast is NOT seen on weekends since the station doesn’t broadcast at 11:00pm on Saturdays and airs FOX 25 Sports Wrap at 11:30pm on Sundays after the 11:00pm newscast.

Other than that, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.

  1. Wasn’t there rumored talks a few years back about WHDH being intrested in taking the FOX affiliation like your WSVN is and WFXT switching to NBC? I wonder why WHDH just didn’t switch to FOX if they were unhappy with NBC and NBC would have gone to WFXT. Then again if WFXT went to NBC they would have to forfit their 7:00a-9:00a, and 9:00am newscasts, 30 minutes of their evening news block, and move their late news at 10:00pm back an hour to 11:00pm and shorten it to 35 minutes for the Today Show, Nigthly News and NBC Primetime. I don’t know if a station with large amounts of local news would be willing to forfit their news for the network.
