FIRST ON THE BLOG: There has been an addition and a shift lately in two markets. Those will be detailed right now.
Just recently, KCBA 35 has added another hour of KTVU 2 (FOX) in San Francisco’s weekday morning newscast. The newscast, titled KTVU Mornings on 2, expands to 9:00am on KCBA 35. This gives the Monterey Bay Area market, five hours of local weekday morning news from 5:00-10:00am, even though the simulcast is from a San Francisco Bay Area station in which it delivers San Francisco Bay Area news.
Also, the market has K29AB which is a translator station that carries KTVU 2’s sister station KICU 36 (Ind) which is also known as KTVU Plus and there has morning news at 10:00am from KTVU as well. Equal it all together and Monterey actually has six hours of local weekday morning news from 5:00-11:00am, the last four being simulcasts from two sister stations in the San Francisco Bay Area. Please note though that these simulcasts are carried in an agreement between KTVU 2 and KCBA 35’s ownership at Seal Rock Broadcaster but operated by Entravision under a LMA.
Another recent change is WXIX 19 shifting its Sunday morning newscast times around. Recently, the previous 8:00am hour has since been moved to 6:00am but has kept the 9:00am hour at 9:00am and that latter hour is simulcast with its second digital subchannel, Bounce Cincinnati on WXIX 19.2. It competes at 6:00am against WLWT 5 (NBC) and WCPO 9 (ABC) and at 9:00am against WLWT 5.
Other than that, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.
