A small minor newscast change… #102.

WMDT 47 / Salisbury, MD – Dover, DE (“47 ABC”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small change to report from the Delmarva area, which is Eastern Maryland and all of Delaware.

Just recently, WMDT 47 has moved its weekday half-hour midday broadcast from 12:00 Noon to 12:30pm. This is now the ONLY local news broadcast on at that time in the market. 47 ABC News at 12:30 remains as a half-hour midday broadcast since Family Feud now occupies the 12:00 Noon timeslot.

With this, it now gives the Delmarva market 60 minutes of local midday news, every weekday with WBOC 16 (CBS/FOX)’s half-hour midday newscast from 12:00-12:30pm and now, WMDT 47’s midday broadcast from 12:30-1:00pm.

There is a huge major expansion to report on in the next post from the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Stay tuned to the blog for more information on that.

  1. WOLO-TV 25 in Columbia, SC was another station that used to have their midday news on at 12:30p. I think WOLO moved its midday newscast to noon sometime in the past year. I was looking at some TV listings from Nashville from about 20 years ago and the Nashville TV Market news stations all aired their midday newscasts at 12:30pm. WKRN-TV, WSMV-TV and WTVF all I think had their newscasts on at 12:30pm which at the time was an odd and weird time for all their stations midday newscast to air at 12:30pm. The Nashville TV Market is still kind of an odd market with their news becasue all the news stations have their morning news start at 4:00am instead of 4:30am which is quite a lot of stations to have news at that hour in one market.

  2. […] WMDT 47 now competes against WBOC 16 (CBS/FOX) for local news at that timeslot in that market, but unfortunately, there is no longer an option for 12:30 p.m. local news there. WMDT first moved to that timeslot in 2016, swapping timeslots with, at the time, Family Feud. We reported on this move back then. […]
