FIRST ON THE BLOG: Another small change, but this time its in San Diego and its an expansion.
Just recently, KNSD 39 has expanded its half-hour midday newscast to a full hour. Titled NBC 7 News Midday, the program now airs for a full hour from 11:00am-12:00pm and now competes in its entirety against its ‘rivals’ KFMB 8 (CBS) and KGTV 10 (ABC) who also offer hour-long midday news at 11:00am. KSWB 69 (Cable 5; FOX) airs their hour-long midday newscast at 1:00pm while XETV 6 (CW) and KUSI 51 (Cable 9; Ind.) don’t air a midday newscast at all. This has pushed Access Hollywood, a NBCU-syndicated program, from 11:30am to overnights at 2:05am after NBC’s Last Call with Carson Daly.
There is a major expansion coming this weekend to Knoxville and you probably wouldn’t believe it because of its market size, but its happening and its become a trend lately. Details on the next report so stay tuned.
