FIRST ON THE BLOG: Minor changes have taken place in the Western Carolinas, mainly on the 10:00pm timeslot.

Just recently, WSPA 7 has expanded its half-hour weeknight 10:00pm newscast on WYCW 62 to a full hour. Titled 7 News at 10:00 on CW 62, it now airs for a full hour on weeknights at 10:00pm but remains just a half-hour on weekends. It now joins WHNS 21 (FOX) on weeknights for airing a full hour of local news at 10:00pm in the market. However, the same can’t be said about WMYA 40’s primetime newscast…

WLOS 13 has cut its weeknight 10:00pm newscast for WMYA 40 to a half-hour. Titled News 13 at 10:00 on My 40, it used to be a weeknight hour-long 10:00pm newscast but is now a half-hour as it airs TMZ on TV at 10:30pm. It also airs a weekend edition for a half-hour as well at the same timeslot.

So at the end of the day, it’s now WHNS 21 and WYCW 62 with hour-long weeknight 10:00pm newscasts in the market as WLOS 13 cuts back theirs on WMYA 40.

It’s a like a swap took place with both duopolies in the market.
