FIRST ON THE BLOG: If you’re looking for even earlier news in Seattle, then how about the afternoon… at 3:30pm.
Starting this upcoming Monday, KOMO 4 will broadcast an extra half-hour local newscast at 3:30pm. It will be the ONLY local newscast on at that timeslot in the market with KOMO News at 3:30.
The new newscast will be anchored by Morgan Chesky and Molly Shen. According to a recent billboard, it will be a traditional newscast that will offer the latest news and weather as well as (don’t be surprised to hear this now these days) top trending stories and videos. And while it will also be streamed LIVE on their KOMO News Website, today’s social media world has now allowed the new half-hour broadcast to also be streamed LIVE on its Facebook and Periscope pages.
This has created a programming swap of sorts for KOMO 4 as Harry used to be on at 3:00pm and KOMO 4’s lifestyle talk show Seattle Refined on at 2:00pm. With Monday right around the corner, Harry will instead be seen at 2:00pm and Seattle Refined is cut to a half-hour and will air at 3:00pm and will then be followed by KOMO 4’s newest newscast at 3:30pm.
And if you’re thinking KOMO 4 is cutting its hour-long 4:00pm newscast for a half-hour newscast at 3:30pm, you’re completely wrong. KOMO 4 will be keeping that newscast, creating a two-hour local news block from 3:30-5:30pm. And after ABC World News TONIGHT, the hour-long 6:00pm news will also remain.
So more local news is coming to Seattle, thanks to KOMO 4. Enjoy it while you can.
