FIRST ON THE BLOG: Looking for more news in Northern Alabama? Then go to WAFF. Just recently, they’re now delivering more news across some time parts.
First, just recently, WAFF 48 has expanded its weekday half-hour noon news to a full hour. WAFF 48 News at Noon competes against WHNT 19 – CBS’ half-hour noon newscast but then WAFF 48 is all alone by themselves at 12:30pm (WAAY 31 – ABC airs an hour-long midday newscast but at 11:00am). The newscast is anchored by Elizabeth Gentle with WAFF 48 StormTracker Weather from Meteorologist Lauren Jones. But that wasn’t the only expansion the station made.
Since this past weekend, WAFF 48 now offers an additional three hours of weekend morning news. On Saturdays, it now airs an hour-long newscast at 5:00am but keeps the 8:00am hour on after The Today Show. The 5:00am hour is all alone by themselves while it does compete against WHNT 19 at 8:00am but is the ONLY local newscast on at 8:30am on Saturday mornings. And for the first time ever… WAFF 48 is now on Sunday mornings as well. The newscast airs from 5:00-7:00am and while it is again alone at 5:00am, it does compete against WHNT 19 at 6:00am. WAAY 31 does not air any weekend morning news at all.
The weekend morning newscast is anchored by Franklin White and Leah Jordan with StormTracker Weather from Meteorologist Kevin Jacobs.
In all, the station has recently added three-and-a-half hours of more local newscasts. And this is from the most-watched news station in Northern Alabama or as some like to call it… The Tennessee Valley.
So there you go. More news on WAFF 48. Enjoy it. Let’s see if viewers would like to tune in during those times.
