A small minor newscast change… #120.

WBNS-TV 10 / Columbus (“10TV”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small change to report from Central Ohio in Ohio’s capital city.

Just recently, WBNS 10 has expanded its Sunday morning newscast by a half-hour to 6:00am. 10TV News This Morning now airs on Sundays from 6:00-9:00am and now fully competes against WCMH 4 (NBC) and WSYX 6 (ABC) for local news at 6:00am in the market. The same goes for 7:00am but at 8:00am, solely competes against WTTE 28 (FOX) which has theirs produced by WSYX 6.

Fun fact for you… WBNS 10 now becomes the last station in the market to air local morning news at 6:00am, 7 days a week. WCMH 4 has done it for years now and WSYX 6 started doing it when they introduced their weekend morning news, just a few years back. WBNS 10 only aired at 6:00am Mondays-Saturdays and started at 6:30am on Sundays for years, but now with the small but recent expansion, finally joins the others that have done it for quite some time now. Just an observation worth nothing.

Other than this, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.

    • Won’t happen, because they carry Dr. Phil/ Oz at 3 &4pm….I asked the question, because WSYX should do a 4pm news with Terri Sullivan, but it been said Columbus isn’t that big for a 4pm news.

  1. Also small markets with 4:00pm news such as Biloxi/Gulfport, Yuma, Sherman, TX, Bend, OR, San Angelo, Dothan AL to name a few which their TV Market rankings rank past 150.

    • Yes… with WLOX 13, KSWT 13, KTEN 10.3, KTVZ 21.3/KFXO 39 and WDFX 34, respectively.

WDFX 34’s 4:00pm is a simulcast of WSFA 12 in Montgomery and there’s no 4:00pm news in San Angelo.

  2. I guess Concho Valley Live on KLST in San Angelo which airs at 4:00pm might be more of a local lifestyle show since I may not be considered a newscast.
