Small minor newscast changes… #121.

KBCW 44 / San Francisco - Oakland - San Jose (
KBCW 44 / San Francisco – Oakland – San Jose (“KBCW 44 Cable 12”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Some few changes have taken place across the country. We begin with Miami and the San Francisco Bay Area.

First, Miami. WSVN 7 has recently shifted on-air times of the Sunday edition of its morning newscast, 7 News – Today in Florida. The second hour has now been shifted to the first hour at 7:00am. This means the program now airs from 7:00-9:00am and competes against WFOR 4 (CBS), WTVJ 6 (NBC) and WPLG 10 (ABC) in the first hour while it only competes against WFOR 4 in the second hour. However, it doesn’t air at 9:00am unlike Mondays-Saturdays because it now airs FOX News Sunday on Sunday mornings at 9:00am.

Next, the Bay Area. KBCW 44 no longer airs morning news from its sister station in Sacramento. It used to air CW 31 News – Good Day Sacramento from KMAX 31 (CW) on weekdays from 7:00-10:00am and on Sundays from 8:00-11:00am. The only local news content that was available on the program was a local news ticker from KPIX 5 (CBS) scrolling on the screen but that was about it. Now it’s only KTVU 2 (FOX) and KRON 4 (MyTV) only airing local morning news after 7:00am in the market (KTVU 2 is 7:00-10:00am + 10:00-11:00am on KICU 36 – Ind and KRON 4 is 7:00-10:00am).

In the next post, minor changes in Western North Dakota and Albany.

  1. I wonder if KMAX in Sacramento in the future will end of axing its morning news like other second channels in the same TV Market that are owned by CBS that elimated or scaled back news on these channels such as KTXA in Dallas/Fort Worth, WPSG in Philly, WLNY in NYC, KSTW in Seattle/Tacoma, and KCAL in LA?
