Newscasts debuting this week… Edition #65.

It has been a while since I done this but its about time we do it. By the way, all stations in this list are in Texas. Here is that list for tomorrow, by day and time order and if a tie, market size.

Monday March 27th, 2017

  • 9:00-10:00 AM: KSAT 12 News – Good Morning San Antonio at 9:00 a.m.

KSAT in San Antonio. The station has planned for this back in February and will finally debut it starting tomorrow. It will be the ONLY local newscast on at that time in the market.

  • 11:00 AM-12:00 PM: FOX 29 News Midday

KABB in San Antonio. It’s not a new one, but rather an expansion to a full hour. This one is also the ONLY local newscast on at that time in the market.

  • 12:00-1:00 PM: News 4 San Antonio at Noon

WOAI in San Antonio. Yep, KABB 29’s sister station is expanding to a full hour at midday as well. This time at 12 noon and will join KSAT 12 in airing hour-long local news at noon. KENS 5 (CBS) also airs a local newscast at noon as well, but for just a half-hour and will be the ONLY local station in the market to air their midday news for a half-hour.

  • 12:00-1:00 PM: KXAN News at Noon

KXAN in Austin. This station is going back into familiar territory by having its midday newscast back for a full hour. It used to be until 2014 when it was shortened for its lifestyle program, Studio 512 in which that program will also expand to an hour but will move to 11:00am to accommodate it. KXAN 36 will have the ONLY hour-long midday newscast at noon in the market as KVUE 24 (ABC) also has an hour-long midday newscast, but at 11:00am.

And a reminder that this upcoming Friday is the last day for XETV 6’s news operations after 17 1/2 years serving San Diego and the morning + 10:00pm news will air for the last time on that date.

If any more changes take place, keep an eye on our social media channels on Facebook and Twitter. Have a great last week of March.
