FIRST ON THE BLOG: Some small changes have recently taken place in the DFW Metroplex, changes I haven’t noticed until now.
First off, KXAS 5 has expanded its weekend morning newscast. It has added an extra half-hour on both Saturday and Sunday mornings, in which it now starts at 5:30am. The newscast is now on Saturdays from 5:30-7:00 and 9:00-10:00am and on Sundays from 5:30-7:00 and 8:00-8:40am (with Lone Star Politics taking up the remaining 20 minutes). It competes against KDAF 33 (CW) on Saturdays at 5:30am, even though KDAF starts a half-hour earlier at 5:00am. On Sundays, its the ONLY station up with local news at 5:30am in the DFW Metroplex.
Just 6 channels up the road, KTVT 11 has moved its Saturday morning newscast. Previously on from 8:00-9:00am, it remains for a full hour but is now on from 11:00am-12:00pm. Its the ONLY local news in the market at that time. The Sunday morning newscast remains as is… from 7:00-8:00am and that competes against KDFW 4 (FOX) in the market for local news at that time on Sundays.
Other than there, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time. And there hasn’t been much lately so please continue to send tips in when you notice something.
