FIRST ON THE BLOG: Some few small changes taking place in two markets across the country.
First in the bigger market, WFLA 8 has discontinued its hour-long noon news on Sunday. It was the ONLY midday newscast on Sundays in the market from 12:00-1:00 p.m. but due to constant pre-emptions from NBC Sports programming as well as now being owned by Nexstar, WFLA 8 had to discontinue it. However, the weekday midday newscast still remains for an hour-long at 11:00 a.m. and is also the ONLY hour-long midday newscast on at that time in the market.
Finally in the smaller market, WBRE 28 has shifted one of its weekend morning news hours on Sundays. Previously on at 7:00 a.m., the hour has since moved to 6:00 a.m. They also offer an hour of news at 9:00 a.m., which will continue as WBRE 28’s weekend morning news are now on both Saturday and Sunday at 6:00 and 9:00 a.m. WBRE 28 competes against WNEP 16 (ABC) for weekend morning news at 6:00 a.m. while it is all alone at 9:00 a.m.
Other than this, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.
