WTNH is adding another hour of its weekday morning newscast.

WTNH 8 / New Haven – Hartford (“News 8”)

It looks like WTNH is ready to add more news. At least on weekday mornings.

Starting this upcoming Monday, July 24th, WTNH 8 will be adding another hour of News 8’s Good Morning Connecticut at 9:00 a.m. The program will air from 9:00-10:00 a.m., right after Good Morning America and will compete against the last hour of WTIC 61 (FOX)’s weekday morning newscast, FOX 61 News – Good Day Connecticut (which airs from 6:00-10:00 a.m. after the FOX 61 Morning News from 4:00-6:00 a.m.)

Currently, its WTNH 8’s lifestyle talk show CT Style at 9:00 a.m. followed by Family Feud at 9:30 a.m. Once the new hour debuts, Family Feud will be displaced from that timeslot and so will a second-run episode of Jeopardy! at 12:30 p.m. since CT Style will take over that half-hour and therefore, will run after the half-hour News 8 at Noon.

This will be the second time that CT Style will be broadcast at that timeslot since it was originally broadcast there when the show first began in 2009 until 2015 when it moved to 9:00 a.m. as an hour-long program, which made the noon-news an hour-long again. However, earlier this year, it became a half-hour program once again and so did the noon news, though both programs were in separate timeslots.

By the way, related to the weekday morning newscast but not on WTNH is that its sister station WCTX 59 (Cable 9) has added another hour to its simulcast of Good Morning Connecticut. It has added the 5:00 a.m. hour which means the simulcast is now on WCTX 59 weekday mornings from 5:00-7:00 a.m. with no exclusive hour offered to WCTX 59.

So even more local morning news taking place in Connecticut. How nice.
