FIRST ON THE BLOG: For a long time, the Quad Cities has not had morning news from 7:00-9:00 a.m., something that other markets have had, including those smaller than the Quad Cities market, which is currently DMA #101. But now, they’ll finally get it.
Starting Monday, September 18th, WHBF 4 will be adding an extra two hours of local morning news to its sister station KLJB 18. The broadcast (only titled as FOX 18 News for now) will air weekday mornings from 7:00-9:00 a.m. and will air the area’s ONLY local morning news at that time and will be considered an extension of WHBF 4’s own weekday morning newscast, Local 4 News This Morning.
This is probably been years in the making for something that only took months to develop from the behind-the-scenes aspect at WHBF/KLJB. But finally, this market will have extra morning news of its own. When WQAD produced news for KLJB, it never went to mornings. The same can be said for KWQC when it also aired news for KLJB. But now, WHBF has finally stepped up to the plate and is providing that on weekdays. Other than this, the only other newscast KLJB airs is its nightly 9:00 p.m. newscast, an hour-long on weeknights and a half-hour on weekends.
So this is wonderful news for those in the Quad Cities, looking for extra local morning news. It’s about damn time!
