FIRST ON THE BLOG: More changes that took place this week that I couldn’t detail yesterday due to loss of power at yours truly’s residence.
WWBT 12 has moved their sister station WUPV 65’s weeknight newscast from 6:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Now known as NBC 12 News at 4:30 on CW Richmond, its home to the ONLY half-hour of local news on at that time in the market. WWBT elected not to add it on their station due to carrying Inside Edition at 4:30 p.m. In other words, WWBT airs news at 4:00, WUPV at 4:30 and then back to WWBT for 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 p.m.
Up next, WMTW 8 is finally back at the midday news game. For the first time in years, WMTW now airs a half-hour midday newscast at noon with WMTW News 8 at Noon (or as the VO’s like to say… Channel 8 WMTW. Maine’s Total Weather and News Coverage at Noon). This new newscast replaces Wendy Williams and now competes against WCSH 6 (NBC) and WGME 13 (CBS) for local news at that time in the market. Access Hollywood now fills the 12:30 p.m. timeslot.
Other than that, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.
