- 9:00-9:30 PM: FOX North Platte News at 9:00
KIIT in North Platte. The ONLY locally-based primetime newscast in the area will make its debut on Wednesday and will be produced by KNOP 2. I don’t know why it’s starting on Wednesday and not on Monday, but it will be on Wednesday.
FIRST ON THE BLOG: I’m a part of the TVNewsTalk family by searching me at “WSVNFan.” I checked the forum today and realized that one station in the Twin Cities is cutting down on one of its weeknight newscasts.
KSTP 5 will be cutting down its 10:00 p.m. weeknight newscast from an hour to 35 minutes. They will do so in order to air Jimmy Kimmel LIVE at the ABC-recommended timeslot of 10:35 p.m. The changes will take place on Monday April 13th, 2015. The newscast, which is anchored by Bill Lunn and Leah McLean, will now fully compete against the other 35-minute weeknight newscasts at 10:00 p.m. in the Twin Cities… WCCO 4, KMSP 9 and KARE 11. According to TVNewsTalk user “Thundershock MN,” he believes that KSTP 5 is cutting down on its 10:00 p.m. newscast, because of a brand new affiliation contract that KSTP 5 signed with ABC earlier this year, that would move Jimmy Kimmel LIVE to 10:35 p.m. and finally follow ABC’s late night schedule, in pattern for the first time in years.
KSTP 5 used to have a weeknight 11:00 p.m. newscast after ABC’s Nightline, but when Nightline was moved to 12:35a ET/11:35p CT, KSTP 5 moved the 11:00 p.m. newscast to 10:00 p.m. in 2013 and thus, created the hour-long 10:00 p.m. newscast. It was unique because it was an hour-long, compared to the competition.
Well folks. Sad to see this goes. I don’t live in the Twin Cities, but if I did, I would be really upset about this.
