WDVM-TV 25 / Hagerstown, Md. – Washington, D.C. (“WDVM 25”)
WDCW 50 / Washington, D.C. (“DCW 50”)
WTXF-TV 29 / Philadelphia (“FOX 29”)

So I’ve decided to make this next post all about D.C. and Philadelphia. Yes, Atlanta is a smaller market than Philly but I’m skipping them because of the number of stations I have to cover there without overfilling images on Twitter posts (since Twitter only lets you do four at a time).

Good news and bad news with Tribune and local news in some markets.

Well, you’ve probably read them on some of the media observer sites by now and yep, its happening. Tribune is canceling several local newscasts at KDAF Dallas, KIAH Houston and WDCW D.C. However, its not all bad news as there will be new local morning news at KIAH Houston and expanding at WPHL Philadelphia. Here’s what you need to know.

WDCW in D.C. is to air a primetime newscast… produced by Richmond’s WTVR.

WDCW 50 / Washington, D.C. (“DCW Television”)
WTVR-TV 6 / Richmond – Petersburg (“CBS 6”)

Unless if you have cable in the D.C. area in which you can get an alternative 10:00pm newscast in the market (NewsChannel 8), there was no alternative as many people watch WTTG for their local news at 10:00pm. However, starting next month, all of that will change.

But there’s a twist to this… the newscast will be based out of Central Virginia.
