Everybody in Western Carolinas has an early evening newscast, except for WHNS 21. Everybody in Western Carolinas starts at 5:00 p.m., except for WHNS 21. That all changes on October 20th.
Starting that date, WHNS 21 will be adding an hour-long 4:00 p.m. newscast called The FOX Carolina, 4:00 O’Clock News. This is the first move or addition to WHNS 21’s news lineup since 2012 when the station moved it’s 6:30 p.m. newscast to 11:00 p.m. The news was announced by Cody Alcorn’s Facebook page, who anchors the weeknight 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts for the station and by Nicole Papay’s Facebook page, who currently is the meteorologist for the FOX Carolina Morning News from 5:00-9:00 a.m.
With this addition, it will become the area’s first and ONLY newscast at 4:00 p.m. as WYFF 4, WSPA 7 and WLOS 13 all start at 5:00 p.m. This new broadcast will join the following in WHNS 21’s news lineup:
- FOX Carolina Morning News, weekdays from 5:00-9:00 a.m.
- The FOX Carolina, 10:00 O’Clock News, nightly from 10:00-11:00 p.m.
- FOX Carolina News TONIGHT at 11:00, weeknights from 11:00-11:30 p.m.
The new newscast will be anchored by Diana Watson and Cody Alcorn (who both do 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. newscasts for the station), along with chief meteorologist Kendra Kent (who also does the 10:00 and 11:00 p.m. weather for the station)
