WPHL loves Action News so much that it’s 10:00 p.m. news is expanding to 1 hour.

WPHL 17 loves WPVI 6 so much that Channel 6 Action News at 10:00 on PHL 17 is expanding to 1 hour, starting September 8th. Why? No surprise as to why because Action News is the most-watched news program in the Delaware Valley for 35+ years now. Ducis Rodgers with Sports, 6ABC AccuWeather with AMS/Meteorologist Adam Joseph, Shirleen Allicot and Brian Taff will continue to helm the weeknight editions when the program expands to an hour. Jeff Skversky with Sports, 6ABC AccuWeather with AMS/Sealed Meteorologist Melissa Magee and Walter Perez will continue to helm the weekend editions of the 10:00 p.m. program. The program was #1 at 10:00 p.m. for the month of July. YES, even beating WTXF 29’s long-established FOX 29 News at 10:00. They (WPHL 17) say that’s a testament to the power of Action News. With this new expansion, Modern Family will shift to 11:00 p.m., also starting September 8th.

I wonder if WPHL 17 will FINALLY replace that boring news program called EyeOpener in the morning with a 2-hour extension of Channel 6 Action News This Morning. Wouldn’t be surprised to see that happen.
