WTNH says “Good Morning Connecticut”, a half-hour later than the rest.

WTNH 8 / New Haven – Hartford (“Channel 8”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: If you’re looking for weekday morning news at 4:30 a.m. in Connecticut, then don’t even look for WTNH anymore to deliver.

Recently, either starting this week or starting last month, WTNH 8 has cut the 4:30 a.m. half-hour of News 8 Good Morning Connecticut. The program was on for 3 1/2 hours from 4:30-7:00 on WTNH 8 and then from 7:00-8:00 a.m. on WCTX 59, their sister station. But now, the program is under suffering ratings and hard times with cutbacks. First, the 7:00-8:00 a.m. hour was cut and now WCTX 59 simulcasts the 6:00 a.m. hour of the program. And now, with the 4:30 a.m. half-hour cut, the program is now on from 5:00-7:00 a.m., becoming one of the rarer major ABC stations now in the Eastern Time Zone to start at 5:00, not at 4:30 a.m.

Also now, this makes WTNH 8’s weekday morning newscast as the shortest morning newscast out of all 4 stations, since WFSB 3 and WVIT 30 goes for 2 & a 1/2 hours (4:30-7:00 a.m.) while WTIC 61 goes for a bombarding 6 hours (4:00-10:00 a.m.).

The state now says less to Good Morning Connecticut on WTNH 8. Don’t worry, it’s been bad in the ratings lately, anyways.
