There is no more a “Good Day Savannah” on WTGS.

WTGS 28 / Hardeeville, SC – Savannah, GA (“FOX 28”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: And now WTOC is the ONLY ones with a local newscast at 7:00 a.m. in the market. So much for having a “Good Day Savannah.”

As of recently, the 7:00 a.m. morning newscast that WJCL 22 produced for WTGS 28, has been canceled and replaced by repeats of The Queen Latifah Show, which has ended its run in March, but repeating episodes until the new 2015-2016 fall TV season. This is mostly due to changes that are being made at WTGS 28, since it is now owned by Sinclair Broadcast Group and separated from WJCL 22, which is now owned by Hearst.

WJCL 22, however, continues to produce an hour-long 10:00 p.m. newscast for WTGS 28 under WJCL News at 10:00 on FOX 28. This newscast will continue to be produced for the foreseeable future, mainly because it was the only primetime newscast for years and also because its an hour-long and 7 nights a week, unlike WSAV 3’s 10:00 p.m. newscast for WSAV-DT 3.2 (MyTV/Me-TV) and WGSA 34 (The CW), which is only 5 nights a week and half an hour. And with this discontinuation, it just leaves WJCL 22 with 4:30-7:00 a.m. with Good Morning Savannah.

Well so much for having a “Good Day.” It’s okay. I still got WTOC 11 for morning news at 7:00 a.m. anyways.
