FIRST ON THE BLOG: It looks like WNBC will make some small moves on Sunday mornings.
Starting this Sunday, WNBC 4 will move one of its half-hours of the Sunday edition of Today in New York and with it comes a programming shift. It will move the 8:00 a.m. half-hour to 9:30 a.m. In other words, the newscast will air on Sundays from 6:00-8:00 a.m. and then again from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Weird setup, right? Well here’s why.
Before this change, Sunday Today with Willie Geist would air on a tape-delay from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and not live like other NBC O&O stations. But now, it will air it live from 8:00-9:00 a.m. However, it also airs a different show from NBC’s LXTV division called Open House NYC. It used to air at 8:30 a.m. after the Sunday morning news, but now it will air at 9:00 a.m., before the last hour of Today in New York. In other words, here’s the setup:
- 6:00-8:00 AM: Today in New York
- 8:00-9:00 AM: Sunday Today with Willie Geist
- 9:00-9:30 AM: Open House NYC
- 9:30-10:30 AM: Today in New York
- 10:30-11:30 AM: Meet the Press (this program’s time slot is not changing)
Other than this, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time.
