FIRST ON THE BLOG: Some small changes to report from two different markets and these are both additions to their current newscast schedules.
First off, WNDU 16 will soon introduce an hour-long 4:00 p.m. newscast that’ll start on Tuesday, September 4th. The reason? NBC Sports’ golf coverage on Labor Day itself the day before. Anyways, NewsCenter 16 at 4:00 will be the market’s second-afternoon newscast at 4:00 p.m., competing in full against WSBT 22 (CBS)’s hour-long newscast, WSBT Channel 22 News – First at 4:00
Another new addition coming up soon is WPBY 35 adding a half-hour 7:00 p.m. newscast starting Monday, September 17th called Star City News at 7:00 on WPBY Lafayette. It will be the fourth newscast to appear for this news operation as it also has 6:00 and 11:00 p.m. (WPBI 16.2 – NBC and WPBY) and 10:00 p.m. newscasts (WPBI 16.1 – FOX). It will be the ONLY local newscast on at that time in the market as longtime news leader WLFI 18 (CBS/CW) airs the Wheel of Fortune–Jeopardy! hour instead and WTTV 4 (CBS)’s satellite station WTTK 29 (CBS; which serves Lafayette) airs other syndicated programming instead.
We have another report coming up from a major market in Texas so stay tuned to Changing Newscasts for more.
Star City Broadcasting, may you lose your news and go all non-news. In other world, stuck with syndication lol!
