KUTV will be on even earlier for News in Utah… at 3:00 p.m.

KUTV 2 / Salt Lake City (“KUTV Channel 2”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: Say it ain’t so. KUTV 2 will make a BIG risk here. Starting September 8th, KUTV 2 will move it’s 4:00 p.m. newscast to 3:00 p.m. as the 4:00 p.m. newscast gets canceled for Ellen as her show starts it’s season premiere tomorrow at 4:00 p.m. on KUTV 2. This new newscast will be the ONLY ones on at 3:00 p.m. as KTVX 4 and and KSTU 13 start their newscasts at 4:00 p.m. while KSL 5 continues to start at 5:00 p.m. KUTV 2 will make this risk to try to continue to be Utah’s #1 News Station as it has been for 2 years now, taking away the lead from long-time pioneer station KSL 5, which has struggled in the ratings ever since the station started going to lifestyle-based reporting, instead of traditional hard news coverage.

The new newscast is an hour-long newscast. The rest of the day’s newscasts for KUTV 2 are half-hour long at 5:00, 6:00, 7:00 (on sister station KMYU 12/KUTV-DT 2.2) and 10:00 p.m.

We’ll find out tomorrow September 8th if KUTV 2’s move of newscast from 4:00 t0 3:00 p.m. will pay off in the future.

No other minor or major changes in Utah newscasts to report.
