WSBT is gonna be… “First at 4:00” in Michiana.

WSBT-TV 22 / South Bend – Elkhart (“WSBT Channel 22”)

FIRST ON THE BLOG: I was checking Twitter (as we all do now these days) and was typing “launching newscast” and “new newscast” on the search box to see if any other stations are launching any newscasts and I found something relating to WSBT 22 and after talking to WSBT 22 on their Facebook page, it’s confirmed and it’s FIRST ON THE BLOG.

WSBT 22 is planning to launch a weekday half-hour 4:00 p.m. newscast called WSBT Channel 22 News, First at 4:00, making it Michiana’s ONLY 4:00 p.m. newscast, designed for those who can’t see the news at 5:00 who can see it at 4:00 p.m.  The newscast begins on September 8th and apparently, Jennifer Copeland (who does the 5:00, 5:30 and 6:00 p.m. news) may do the 4:00 p.m. newscast because she’s been appearing on a lot of promos lately, regarding the new newscast. See one of them below:

This new newscast will give them a jumpstart to the early evening news competition in Michiana since WNDU 16 and WBND 57 both start their early evening news at 5:00 p.m. while WSJV 28 doesn’t even produce one at all. This new newscast at 4:00 p.m. will debut on the same exact day as WBND-LD 57 expands the morning newscast from 2 hours to 4 1/2 hours with a 4:30 a.m. half-hour added to the newscast and a 2-hour extension added on WCWW-LD CW 25 Michiana from 7:00-9:00 a.m.
