FIRST ON THE BLOG: A small change to report from Kansas City and I don’t know when this happened.
Just recently, KSHB 41 has shifted its Saturday morning newscast times by a bit, by moving the 9:00am hour of 41 Action News Today to 7:00am. The Saturday morning edition of the program now runs for 2-hours continuously from 6:00-8:00am and shifts The Today Show to 8:00-10:00am. In terms of competition, it now competes fully against WDAF 4 (FOX)’s Saturday morning newscast, which today started airing it an hour earlier and now airs from 6:00-8:00am as well.
Also, it competes against the second hour of KMBC 9 (ABC)’s Saturday morning newscast at 7:00am, but leaving out the 9:00am hour now means that KCTV 5 (CBS) is home to the area’s ONLY Saturday morning news at 9:00am. KSHB 41’s Sunday morning newscast remains as is from 6:00-7:00am and from 8:00-9:00am with the new Sunday Today with Willie Geist, sandwiched in between from 7:00-8:00am.
The weekend morning newscast is anchored by Jane Monreal with 41 Action Weather from Meteorologist Nicole Phillips.
But other than this, there are no other major additions or expansions to report on at this time. However, if you do live in KC, please note that KMBC 9’s expansion of 9:00pm news on sister station KCWE 29 to an hour starting Monday, will ONLY happen on weeknights, not 7 nights a week as first reported so please take note on that. Oh and by the way, KMBC 9’s hour-long 4:00pm newscast also debuts on Monday.
Now that’s it.
